Yerba Mate, Organic

Yerba Mate (pronounced "yerba mahtay") is a medicinal and cultural drink of ancient origin.

Introduced to the world by the Guarani Indians of South America and grown mainly in Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay and Brazil. Yerba Mate may have the following traditional efficacies:

• increase mental alertness
• aids weight management by decreasing the hunger craving
• boosts immune system
• cleanses the colon
• diuretic and encourages perspiration
• aids with allergies such as hayfever.

Unlike most herbal infusions Yerba Mate contains caffeine.

1 – 2 tablespoons to 250ml, hot, not boiling water, steep for 3 - 5 mins. May be prepared traditionally using a special gourd (mate) and a bombilla (metal straw) or use a French press.

Uses:
Yerba Mate is traditionally enjoyed hot without milk.
