Whole Nutmeg is the dried seed of a tree. When grated or ground it is delightfully aromatic and has a warm, nutty flavour.
Whole Nutmeg lasts almost indefinitely if it is stored properly. When compared with ground nutmeg it has a stronger flavour and aroma.
Uses:
Nutmeg is used in many baked dishes including apple pie, cake, slice and biscuits. It adds warmth to beverages, think chai and mulled wine. Try sprinkling Nutmeg into your creamy sauces, cheese dishes and pancake batters. Nutmeg enhances the flavour of curries, soups, stews, tagines, puddings and vegetable dishes. This amazing spice is also used in spice blend such as garam masala and curry powder. So versatile, it is even added to sausages and haggis!
