Tapioca Starch, also known as tapioca flour, is extracted from the cassava root, a tuber native to South America. Tapioca Starch is vegan, gluten free and has a neutral taste. It is often used in gluten free flour mixes.
Uses:
Tapioca Starch is an excellent thickener for sauces, gravies, stews, casseroles and pies. Tapioca Starch can be used to replace wheat flour, corn starch and arrowroot in many recipes. For a crisp coating, dust meat with Tapioca Starch before frying. Bake Pão de queijo, a cheesy Brazilian bread made with Tapioca Starch.
