Popcorn
These hard yellow kernels of corn magically expand and puff up when heated making a delightful snack.
To make perfect Popcorn:
3 tablespoons oil – olive oil or coconut oil
1/3 cup Popcorn
Butter to taste (optional, approx. 1 tablespoon or more)
Salt
Heat the oil in a large thick bottomed saucepan on medium high heat. Add a few corn kernels to the oil. Once these kernels have popped add the rest of the popcorn. Cover the pot and remove from the heat. Wait for 30 seconds then return the saucepan to the heat. When the corn starts popping gently agitate the pot over the burner. Tip the lid slightly to allow the steam to escape. Remove from the heat when the popping slows. Transfer the popped corn to a bowl. Pour melted butter over the popcorn (optional). Add salt to taste.
Flavours to try:
Savoury - Smoked paprika, nutritional yeast, cayenne, chili, chilli lime seasoning, curry powder, cumin, taco seasoning, grated Parmesan cheese.
Sweet - Cinnamon sugar, salt and sugar, caramel, chocolate, hot cocoa mix.
