Linseed or flaxseed as it is also known is a small reddish-brown seed with a mild nutty flavour. Best consumed cracked or ground as the whole seed may pass through the system undigested.
Linseeds are a good source of fibre and are used to improve gut health and ease constipation. Linseed may help reduce the risk of heart disease.
Uses:
Whole and ground Linseeds are good for baking and can be added to cakes, biscuits, pancakes, muffins, waffles and bread. Use ground linseed in smoothies or sprinkle on cereal or muesli. Linseeds are a tasty addition to muesli bars and protein balls.
