Buckwheat flour is gluten free and has a slightly nutty, earthy flavour. Considered to be a superfood, buckwheat is low GI, a good source of protein and fibre and high in magnesium.
For best result use specific buckwheat recipes although you can usually replace some of the wheat flour with buckwheat flour.

Uses:
Buckwheat crepes are a particular favourite. Blinis and Japanese soba noodles are made with buckwheat flour. Buckwheat flour is versatile and can add a lovely nutty flavour to cakes, biscuits, scones and crackers.
